Lorena Sanchez Tyson
Lorena Sanchez Tyson is a Senior Postgraduate Teaching Assistant and PhD candidate in the Department of Education, Practice and Society (EPS) at University College London's (UCL) Institute of Education. Her current research activity focuses on a literacy program for adults in indigenous languages in Mexico, where she aims to explore the meanings, values and uses of literacy in indigenous contexts. She is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA) in the UK and currently supervises graduate students for the MA in Education, Gender and International Development and leads undergraduate seminars for the BA Education Studies at UCL. Her professional experiences include program management at two NGOs in the United States and an internship at the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL). She holds a BA in English with a specialization in translation from the Autonomous University of Tamaulipas (Mexico) and is a recipient of a prestigious Erasmus Mundus scholarship for an MA in Lifelong Learning: Policy and Management from UCL (United Kingdom) and the University of Deusto (Spain). Her papers have been published in relevant journals of in the field of education such as the London Review of Education, Changing English, The Journal of Unschooling and Alternative Learning and Compare: A Journal of Comparative and International Education.
